Class Curriculum
FAKANAM Green School specializes in curriculum design and has therefore designed most parts of its curriculum in combination with the American and the South African curriculum for pre-school children.
For children aged 5 to 6, we’re in prime “school readiness” territory—where curiosity meets foundational academics and self-expression flourishes. These learners are eager to explore ideas, ask big questions, and build relationships, so the curriculum should blend structured learning with creative discovery and emotional growth. This stage is about igniting passion for learning while building confidence and autonomy. Here’s a well-rounded curriculum outline for this age group:
Core Focus Area
- Literacy & Language: Letter-sound associations, sight words, sentence formation, storytelling.
- Numeracy Skills: Number recognition to 30+, simple addition/subtraction, patterns, time (morning/afternoon), shapes.
- Science & Discovery: Nature observation, hands-on experiments, weather, simple cause-and-effect concepts.
- Social & Emotional Learning: Managing feelings, cooperative play, expressing needs with words, conflict resolution basics.
- Creative Arts: Music, movement, drama games, visual arts using a variety of media.
- Life Skills & Independence: Personal responsibility, self-care routines, classroom jobs, kindness and empathy.
- Environmental Studies: Exploring nature, caring for plants and animals, learning simple eco‑friendly habits like recycling and saving water.
